Lalith de Silva - Founder Chairman

Lalith is the Founder and Chairman of Compassionate Nomad. A former Group CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom, he brings over four decades of leadership experience across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. His core expertise includes organizational transformation, governance, and ethical leadership.

Lalith has served as a board director in numerous organizations and currently holds several key leadership roles, including President of the Mithuro Mithuro Movement and Director of the Corruption Prevention Network.

A passionate patriot, Lalith’s life and career are deeply rooted in gratitude for the free education he received in Sri Lanka. Over the past two decades, he has led and supported numerous charitable initiatives and volunteered his expertise across sectors. Through his pro bono consultancy services, he is estimated to have saved the nation over 1.5 billion Sri Lankan Rupees, making a significant contribution to public value creation.

He founded Compassionate Nomad to redefine travel as a purposeful and charity-driven experience one that fosters sustainable social, economic, and spiritual impact. He is committed to building a culture of integrity and mobilizing a global community of volunteers to uplift Sri Lanka.

Bart Mascorella  - Director

After 35 years experience in the IT industry, Bart brings highly developed skills in Technical Services, Sales, Marketing, Channel Alliances, Business Development, People Development Leadership and start-up ventures. Career highlights include technical and sales achievement awards, establishing new channels to market and mentoring high performance teams and individuals who have excelled in their chosen fields.

Bart also has Board director experience both in IT Distribution and the Banking industries. It is hoped these skills, through the philanthropic vision of Compassionate Nomad, wil bring meaningful contributions and empower the development of social, economic, and spiritual transformations for the locations we serve.

Rohan Alahendra – Director

With over 30 years of professional experience across Sri Lanka and Australia, Rohan brings deep expertise in telecommunications engineering, project management, and community engagement.

He has held senior leadership roles, managing large-scale and complex projects, including serving as Project Director at Mobitel and Senior Project Manager at Optus. For the past eight years, he has successfully operated his own business in Sydney, demonstrating both entrepreneurial drive and people focused leadership.

Outside of his professional career, Rohan is deeply passionate about service and giving back. Through initiatives such as Feel for Life, he has supported numerous charitable causes, championing compassion driven and sustainable development.

Rohan’s belief in Compassionate Nomad is personal and heartfelt. Having benefited from free education in Sri Lanka, he feels a deep sense of gratitude to the country that shaped his early years. Giving back is his way of honouring that gift. He sees this organisation as a powerful platform to restore dignity, hope, and opportunity to communities in need. His commitment to the mission is rooted in a desire to serve with purpose, uplift humanity, and build a more compassionate world for future generations.

Rohana Vithanage - Director

With over 37 years of experience in the financial sector, Rohana has built an extensive career across Sri Lanka, the Middle East, and Australia. He began his professional journey at the Road Construction and Development Company in Sri Lanka before moving to Saudi Arabia, where he served nearly a decade as Finance Manager for the Abunayyan Sons Group of Companies.

After migrating to Australia, he joined the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) as a Management Accountant, where he served for nine years. He later became General Manager of Active Tax and Accounting, leading operations for five years. Today, he is the Managing Director of his own tax and accounting firm, as well as the founder of a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company in Sri Lanka, employing a skilled team of nine professionals. His vision is to provide Sri Lankan accountants with international exposure and valuable career opportunities.

In addition to his professional achievements, Rohana has been an active contributor to community initiatives. He has served as Vice President of the United Lanka Forum in Saudi Arabia and as Vice President (Education) of the Sinhalese Cultural Forum in Sydney.

Rukshani de Silva – Public Officer

Rukshani de Silva has been actively engaged in charity and community development work since 2001. Her lifelong passion for service has inspired her to contribute meaningfully to a wide range of social initiatives across Sri Lanka, with a strong focus on women’s empowerment, peacebuilding, education, and spiritual well-being.

She was an active member of the United Lanka Forum peacebuilding initiative and served as the President of the Kalutara District Netball Association, where she worked tirelessly to uplift the sport and empower young women. One of her landmark achievements was supporting the completion of the first-ever swimming pool in the district at her alma mater, Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya, a historic contribution to girls’ education and sports.

Rukshani has also collaborated with her husband, Lalith, on numerous charitable projects focused on mental health, education, and support for disabled war heroes. She played a key role in establishing a Sunday school in Anuradhapura for underprivileged children to promote moral values.

In addition, Rukshani dedicates her time to supporting aged care centres in Sri Lanka, where she educates staff and seniors on programs that promote emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

She brings deep empathy, hands-on experience, and an unwavering commitment to transforming lives across generations and communities.
