Our story
Why I thought of setting up Compassionate Nomad
When I migrated to Australia in 1988, my heart never left Sri Lanka. Over the years, I supported my country in many ways — through knowledge-sharing, building connections, and contributing resources. My mission has always been the same: to uplift Sri Lanka and its people.
Along the way, I also saw the power of individual contributions. For example, I know someone who, through a series of consultancy assignments for government-owned agencies, helped save the country over US$13 million. That experience showed me that even a single person, when motivated by compassion and service, can create an extraordinary impact.
Yet, I also began to see deeper challenges in our communities: rising mental health struggles, increasing suicides, child and women abuse, inefficiency in the public sector, weak governance, and, most concerning, a decline in ethical and moral values.
This realization gave birth to Compassionate Nomad. Together with like-minded friends, I wanted to create a structured and meaningful way for people everywhere to give back – a movement rooted in compassion, service, and transformation.
Our vision is simple yet powerful: to bring hope, healing, and lasting change to individuals and communities, while inspiring purposeful journeys that strengthen both hearts and nation.
